London's city ball, I mean hall. Posted by Hello

Caroline and her daddy. And a striking example of British graffiti. Posted by Hello

This is the front of Hampton Court Palace. The Georgian architecture is on the south and west side. When I initially saw the palace, I thought we were in the wrong place, because all of the photos I had seen showed the georgian architecture. Anyway, it's a beautiful place (with many different architectural styles). Posted by Hello

Caroline's sunglasses. She actually will wear them when it is sunny. (I have recently purchased a really nice sun shade, so she shouldn't need them soon.) Posted by Hello

Palace of Westminster. This tower is commonly referred to as "Big Ben." Big Ben is actually the name of the bell. Westminster is a Royal Palace that the Queen allows the members of Parliament to use.  Posted by Hello

This photo is from a few weeks ago. She is much bigger now. Posted by Hello
Caroline is going through a growth spurt. She has been sleeping a lot-almost hibernating. She slept through the night two nights ago, and last night slept for a 5 hour stretch. Plus, she has been napping about 5 hours during the day.

Caroline update

We went to the pediatrician on Thursday. Caroline received 3 more vaccinations. She is doing well; she didn't get a fever or anything like she did last time.

Caroline is learning so much these days. Her is a list of her new skills:

(1) she rolls over
(2) she has discovered her feet. Sometimes, Caroline will do anything to grab them. I have seen her hunched over in her carseat (not while driving, of course) trying to grab her feet.
(3) She can sit up. Caroline doesn't know how to get into a sitting position and this frustrates her greatly. She does sit on her own though, especially after sitting in my lap.
(4) The pediatrician asked me if she can transfer objects from one hand to another. I haven't this yet, but I am on the lookout for it.
(5) She can blow bubbles with her mouth. This is sort of annoying, because she ends up spitting everywhere (me, her clothes), but she seems to enjoy it.

Note: Sunscreen should not be used on babies under the age of 6 months. I did not know this and I put sunscreen on Caroline before going out for a run (oops). Apparently, sunscreen can clog babies' pores. She had no adverse reactions, though. We will wait before using sunscreen again.

I hope this picture indicates the scope of this palace. It is definitely palatial.  Posted by Hello

Todd is waiting for me to take all these pictures. He is such a great husband! Posted by Hello

Sorry about that last caption. Hello! is getting ahead of itself. This is another view of Hampton Court Palace. Posted by Hello

Fountain at Hampton Court Palace. Do you know what it is supposed to look like? Hint: Royalty wear these on their heads. Posted by Hello

These geese were trying very hard to get a bite of our lunch. We sat down on this bench in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace and took out our sandwiches and we were surrounded by swans and geese. They would go away until we had made it clear that we were not giving up our food. I think that there were about 15-20 around us during lunch. Yikes! Posted by Hello

More Hampton Court Palace. (Sorry these are out of order, I don't know what happened) Posted by Hello

This is the Tower of London. It is the site of many executions. Plus, the Tower served as a prison for high profile prisoners. Posted by Hello

Swans in the fountain. Did you know that nearly all of the swans in the UK are the property of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. You actually need special permission from her to personally own any swans. Posted by Hello

Update on Caroline

In the past several weeks, Caroline has really taken off in terms of her physical development. First she started rolling over. She has been able to roll over since she was six weeks old, but only from her stomach to her back, and it was never intentional. Now she rolls over when I'm dressing her or changing her diaper, because she doesn't want to be still. She has also started sitting. She really likes sitting, but she can't figure out how to get into a sitting position yet. We are working on that.

We are really enjoying her little personality manifest itself. She is a very happy baby, though I wouldn't characterize her as laid-back or relaxed. She gets frustrated easily when she can't roll over.

This nifty pic is the lobby of the British Museum. It is the most interesting aspect of the museum, save the Rosetta stone. Posted by Hello

This is the tower of the Southwark Cathedral. This Cathedral is much older than St. Pauls. It was built in the 1100s. Posted by Hello
